Hey Everyone! and Happy Belated Thanksgiving.
Hope everyone had a great week last week, and hope everyone didn't eat to much food.
We had a pretty good Thanksgiving. We ate at the Crows. A family in the ward that invited us. It was way good! I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.
I didn't get a chance to play football :(, President didn't want to take any risks in me re-injuring my knee). Which was fine, I listened, and as hard as it was to sit on the sidelines I did, but I took pictures, so I still enjoyed myself. We went down to Lawrenceburg with the ward down there because our ward did not have one since it is full of old people. But I enjoyed being able to at least watch it.
With it being thanksgiving last week, numbers were low, but we still had a really good week. We had a "specialized training" on Saturday morning with the Zone, in Franklin. It was really good. We talked alot about working with the less actives in our prospective wards. Which Elder Hamblin and I found one when we were out tracting on Friday, which we did not know lived there. We have an appointment with them this coming Friday, so I am excited to start working with them. We also learned that missionary work is taking a different route.
President went to a mission presidents seminar last weekend, and told us what he learned. He said that in the near future that most of the missionaries in the US, instead of tracting would be talking in chat rooms with people about the church, the Missionary department did a 2 year study, and about 58% of adults in the US know little to nothing about the church, so our approach to missionary work is changing. It probably won't be in my time as a missionary, but probably when Andrew goes on mission will be when this is in place. President wants our mission to be the "trial" mission, to see how it works. So the church is going to the internet very aggressively, as he said, so I'm excited to see where things go.
But things went good last week, learned alot. We have two of our investigators that we are working with alot. Olin Kiley, and Samson Su. They are both progressing. Olin is a referral from our Ward Mission leader. He is way cool. We had a member at our lesson last night with him. He had a lot of questions, and he wanted everyone to answer, so the fair way to do this was he took a deck of cards and whoever drew the highest card got to answer the question. Definitely a new experience, but all his questions were very very good, and his own questions. And for the most part we answered the questions pretty well. So I think we will get somewhere with him. I am excited for him.
Samson is doing pretty good. We haven't seen him since last week though, he's been busy with work. We got to see him last Wednesday so hopefully this week we will be able to see him sometime this week.
I am going to be in Madison Tuesday-Friday. They are having a mission wide Leadership Training meeting that is 4 days long. Going to be interesting to see what we learn, and excited. Also excited to be able to see a bunch of people that I know.
Things are going well. This week should be a good week and looking forward to it.
And yeah, I can send an updated picture of me. It may have to be a regular picture because I can't send pictures via email, well I might be able to. But I'll see what I can do.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Love you each

Two Weeks in One
NOV. 15th
Hey everyone!
This past week was a great one. All the conferences were good.
Transfer info came, and as expected, E.Hamblin and I will both be staying. So we get to have Thanksgiving and Christmas together.
Speaking of Thanksgiving we are going over to a members home next week. Thank goodness it is an all day P-Day, looking forward to it, can't wait.
I just realized this morning, that this Thursday it will be two years ago exactly that I received my mission call.
Things are going well here. My companion has been sick the past couple of days, woke up on Saturday not feeling well at all, and stayed in bed Saturday and Sunday. I at least got to go with one of the other Spanish elders and went out and worked.
So I was spanglish for a day :D. Was interesting, but had a total of 7 lessons for the day, very very good day.
I went a little crazy yesterday, being by myself when Elder Hamblin was sleeping. I read lots of Ensign magazines, and lots of the BofM, and lots of PMG. But you can only study for so long. :/, so it will be nice to get out today and have some P-Day fun :D.
Elder Grow is awesome. He's a pretty funny guy. He counseled us to find families, and teach them. We actually got to teach a family last Thursday night. It went decent, we were told that they felt intimidated by questions, which we were just trying to get them involved. So its a good thing we know, that we are just going to have to teach them very simply.
But we are excited for whats going on.
Conference, like I said was good, learned lots, got to see Elder Lawrence again!!! It was good to see him again.
We helped Samson with his house that he is renovating all day Friday. Taught him the plan of salvation on Saturday. Went good. Had more good questions. We set a soft date for Dec. 18th, we told him to pray about it, and he is going to.
We will hopefully see him tomorrow night, and teach him lesson 3, and read the BofM with him, because he is having a hard time understanding it. So keep Samson in your prayers for me :D.
Love each of you!
Love,
-Elder Edgell
NOV. 22
WOW! Can't believe its already thanksgiving week, and the weather here is beautiful!
It's been in the 60s and 70s and we hear it's supposed to be all this week :D, so we are excited for that.
This past week was a really good week. We taught 29 lessons! So overall it was a really good week.
Found 6 new people to teach. Samson is still doing well, he wasn't able to make it to church yesterday, but he came for the linger longer afterwards, and after that we taught him a little bit.
Committed him to read and pray about the BofM. We are also going to be going over with him the BofM so he can understand it.
I have resumed reading the NT, and started reading D&C. Exciting stuff in there. So I hope to have all completed by the end of the next 5 months, which is in about two weeks that I hit my 19th month mark!
Ahh! It's weird being the oldest missionary in the area! I guess I need to be the example too.
Other than that nothin really much is going on. Well, we found an awesome family this past week, taught them a first lesson and they were really excited about the gospel, at least learning new things. And then they called us yesterday morning to cancel the appointment we had set up with them for tonight. I asked why they wanted to cancel, and they said they talked to their pastor at their church and said that they feel it's not right for them to go down this path. It seemed like they were really interested in what we were teaching them, it was a really spiritual lesson for them too. But yeah, they dropped us like it's hot or so it's said...
Other than that people are progressing.
Working hard, teaching lots, and also having fun while I'm here.
Love each of you!
Go forward with faith.
Love,
Elder Edgell

Cold and Wet But Doing Well. - November 8,2010
Hey Everyone!!
Hope everyone had a good week last week :D. My week was a pretty good one...good but very very cold and wet. Mostly just Wed-Saturday was cold and wet. Highs were in the mid 40s.
Last week was a better week than the previous. Things are moving slowly but surely here in Columbia. But other than being cold and wet, things are going very well. We found 4 new people to teach last week, and they are VERY receptive to the Gospel.
On Thursday we received a HQ referral from SLC. The guys name is Samson Su. He is Chinese, and has been in the USA for a little under 2 years. He is from Beijing area, and speaks EXCELLENT ENGLISH, he majored in it in school in China before he came over.He is very very receptive to the gospel. And the cool thing is he came to church yesterday!!!!!! And we have a sister in our ward also from china who has only been here for 6 months, he was able to translate the meeting for her, it was cool. I sat next to him and answered questions that he had....He mostly had questions about polygamy, but got it cleared up for him...hopefully :/. But it was awesome to see him walk in for church yesterday. He is already talking like he is a member. Like he says things like...so why do people think "we are weird" or "Why are we called the Mormons.". Stuff like that, so we are very hopeful about him, and excited about him. We have another appointment with him tomorrow @ 100 at the church, and we are going to teach him the plan of salvation.
We were able to teach a lot last week, 3 of them members were present, so things are definitely picking up. 16 total lessons...things are low because of no car, at least that's what I think.
Friday we were able to go to Lewisburg to work there. Since we don't get a chance to go there very often, we were there from about 8 till 2. It was a long cold wet day, but little successes there, so we are only going to go there every other Friday. Good little small town, lots of PM families there, but we need a car or something to get there, and we are still with out a car :/. Hopefully Elder Hamblin will get his license sometime this week.
This week should be a good week. Zone Conference is this Thursday in Nashville. Elder Crow of the Seventy will be there. Excited for that, and it's combined with two other zones, McMinville...my old zone, Nashville and ours..Franklin. I'm excited about going back, because It's the same area that Bellevue is in and I will be able to see some members there hopefully that I knew, and get to see how the area is rebuilding from the flood that happened back in May.
So this week is going to be a good one, looking forward to ZC, and looking forward to being in Nashville again for the day.
Hope all is well with everyone :D. Looking forward to a good week.
Love yall

Another Week Has Past
Hey everyone!
Hope everyone's past week was a great one! Ours wasn't that great, but we turned it around on Saturday. We were at only a whopping total of lessons of 6, and Saturday we tracted ALL DAY and walked all day! We found 5 new people to teach, most of those people are pretty solid. Handed out at least 8 Bof Ms in one day, it was probably one of the best finding days of my mission. It was truly amazing to be able to see the Lord's hand in our work this past week, as we were definitely able to see. Last Tuesday we had to stay in most of the day because of tornado watches/warnings all over the area and all through out TN. But we were safe, we just got REALLY HEAVY rain and wind, and lots of dark spooky clouds, captured some good video of it :D.
Wednesday, was another good DM(District Meeting). I went on exchanges with the Lawrenceburg Elders Wed-Fri. We had a good exchange. On Thursday I was able to go do service at a bakery that a member owned. We bagged food, priced it, and helped make rolls, it was really fun. I love all the home made stuff that you find out here, and all the home bakeries...the family feel. The only place that I can think of is Great Harvest Bread Co. that makes home made bread and stuff similar. That's one thing I am going to miss about out here, is all of those kind of stores.
But yeah Saturday was an amazing day, we met this girl, who's name is Ariana, she grew up in the church but is not a member, so we are excited to see where that goes...But the only bad thing about us finding all of these people is that they are like a few hundred yards outside of our area :/. Our border line is the Duck River...so if you were to look at google maps, find the Duck River, and a street called 7th ave, and that's where we tracted. And you'll see how close it is to our area, they are letting us keep them unless they progress towards baptism, since it is pretty far out for the Spring Hill Elders to go to.
Halloween was a very very easy day. We had to be in by 600, so we were at church most of the day then came in and cleaned/did some planning....
Oh, word of advice...don't kneel on a glass table...bad news. But don't worry I just got cut up a bit on my knee. Could of been ALOT worse then it really was.
Things are moving well here. Clint hasn't been able to make it to church yet :/ but hopefully will this next week, the next couple of weeks is crucial for him to get baptized on the 26th. All of our other investigators are doing well too, but not much progress yet. But it will come. I can't believe it is November already, and two weeks from today I think it will be a year since I had my car accident...Time sure does fly, and your right especially when you are busy. This past week flew by way to fast :/. But taking it all in, while I'm still a missionary, because whether I'm ready for it or not it will be here before I know it.
But other than that things are going very well, looking forward to this week, it should be a good one. We are going to a town called Lewisburg TN this Friday to do some work there, a town that we cover, but rarley get to go there, because of miles, so we are excited we get to go there and work this week...wish us luck :D. Well, I think that's it for this week.
Well have a FANTASTIC WEEK

Tornados and Teaching
Hey everyone, Elder Edgell here.
My first week in Columbia was a good one. Last Tuesday we had interviews. They went well. Our mission is starting to focus on scripture mastery. The assistants see what we knew 1st week, because we were supposed to have them all memorized by then...I only had a few...so they challenged my companion and I to memorize two from lesson 3 and 4. Proud to say that I have a accomplished that! yay! So I can call the assistants with confidence and recite the scriptures.. The ones I memorized were, Eth. 12:6, 3 Nephi 27:19, and Aof F #12.
So things here are good. District meeting last week went well. I like it now alot better than before, because instead of assigned trainings from the assistants we can choose our own trainings. It's very spiritually oriented which is good :D. I like it alot.
My district only consists of another set of Elders, who cover Lawrenceburg. Elder Walker and Elder Clouse. They are good missionaries. District meeting was there in Lburg last week, and it's here in Columbia this week. I trained on setting baptismal dates last week, and plan on training on using the BofM more in our finding efforts...its going to be a good training hopefully.
Oh also last week we set a baptismal date!!!! WOOT WOOT! His name is Clint. We set it for the 26th of November. He wasn't able to come to church though yesterday :(. But the lesson was really good. We taught the 1st lesson(the restoration). He said that he had already been baptized but we told him that he needed to be baptized by someone holding the priesthood, and he willingly accepted the date for the 26th, day after Thanksgiving...one more month till then :D yay.
So we are excited about that. But last week overall was a good week. I am surprisingly learning the area very quickly. Its not that hard of an area to learn though.
(mom addition: here's a map of where Elder Edgell is. It's south of Nashville)
This area reminds me of Columbia,KY. a town I covered when I was in Sulphur Well. It's a nice town though :D. Lots of nice people. The ward here is full of old people. It's weird coming from a college town, that is go go go all the time, and then coming to a town that people are really laid back and "chill" here. But its been good to me so far.
Story Time: So last night we had a bunch of storms come through. We went over with the Spanish Elders to a members home because the member was a single lady and she was by herself with her children, so we went with them so they could be there. We weren't there but for about 5 minutes when the phone rang, Elder Hamblin answered the phone, and it was President. I heard him say...Whats the weather like out there? We told him it had been lighting and thundering for a while. He told us that there was a tornado warning out, and it was heading our direction..directly for Columbia. AHH! He said be careful and get inside somewhere, luckily we were already at a members home. No sooner after I got done talking to him on the phone the sirens went off...I called him back immediately and told him...he said get in cover NOW! and call me back in 10-20 minutes. So we all sat in the middle of the hallway. The sirens went off about 15 minutes later, called pres. back and told him and he said that the storm had passed. Later we heard there was a tornado that hit right outside of Columbia. So last night was a pretty intense moment. But we are safe and accounted for.
Are y'all getting the storms now? The ones that came through here last night?
Settled in finally. Not sure what we are going to do today...laundry and letter writtting...the usual pday stuff. Well I think that's all for this week, hope everyone is doing well...love yall :D

District of Columbia - New District Leader
Hey hey everyone!
Got some news! So on Saturday President called us and told me I am being transferred...It was very unexpected :(.
I am right now in Columbia TN. I am "Greenie Busting". My new companion is Elder Hamblin, and he is from Boise Idaho.
I really miss Murfreesboro, but for some reason the Lord needs me else where.
I am District Leader again as well. Good things are happening here. I really like Elder Hamblin, he is a really good kid. He has only been out for about 1 month.
Things were going well in Stones River. Elder Lawrence is going to keep me updated on everyone,as much as he can.
I am excited to be able to be a district leader again. I learned a lot from the 3 and a half month break of not being a district leader..
Not sure what my new address is but once I figure it out I will send you a letter, and it will have my new address on it. (He's referring to his new apartment, his mission address remains the same)
We are going to be VERY busy the next couple of days. Especially when I am trying to figure out my new district, and how to do things, because ALOT of things have changed since I have been a DL. But I am excited to learn how to do everything.
Glad to hear everyone has had a good week.
Last week was a pretty successful week. We taught 27 lessons! Courtney wasn't at church and others weren't either.
Haven't meet any investigators yet here in Columbia, but looking forward to.
Today has been a very very busy hectic day with coming to my new area. From what I have seen of Columbia, it actually is not a bad area.
The Ward Mission Leader picked us up...We went from Murfreesboro, to Madison to Spring Hill to here now in Columbia. Well, its back to no washer or dryer. But luckily I can do it for free because the spanish elders let us do laundry....good thing I did it before I left :D. Everything is going well. Like I said its going to be a hectic week, trying to figure everything out, but looking forward to the new challenges that lay ahead of me.
Can you believe that I will have 6 months left in a couple weeks! And now I'm with someone who is just came out...he makes me feel really old.
Our apartment, isn't too bad, no desks :(. So it will be interesting to see how I can study effectively, see if the mission doesn't have one or something :D.
Things are going to be interesting this next week...oh and this library won't allow me to be able to send pics...so looks like you may not be getting any pictures for a while :(...I'll have to print some off or something.
Well hope everyone is doing well.
Love you all :)
PS....Please keep me updated on the top 10 :D

Live From Murfreesboro TN
KEY:
SR=Stones River I ward...T3=Transfer 3 :D
Hello, and welcome to the SR1 Channell T3 weekly news report from Murfreesboro TN!
Welcome to another weekly news report live from Murfreesboro TN. We have confirmation that Elder Lawrence and I will be staying another transfer. Reports have it that this is will be the 2nd time EVER that a companionship in the Tennessee Nashville Mission has stayed for 4 1/2 months together. I am excited and ready to go.
Lets head over to the Missionary Report desk for this past week's top stories......
This just in: Mario Evans accepted a baptismal date for October 23rd! But due to lack of church attendance we have to push it back to Halloween weekend.
It was a excellent week. Our numbers were low, but that is expected for General Conference week. Still trying to get a hold of all of our other investigators, but things are looking up for us. Taught a total of 17 lessons :/, low, but this week will be better.
We had a Special meeting in McMinville last Tuesday. It was really good, got a chance to see Elder Dean again before he goes home this week :(...but oh well. It was about accountability/obedience, and how to set baptismal dates..lots of role play.. We also took a test, because the zone has been working on becoming CH.3 missionary masters...Ch. 3 for those of you who don't know is where the lessons that we teach can be found :D. Not sure how we all did yet, but hopefully we will find out soon. I'm curious to see how we did. When I was taking the test it reminded me of school again :D.
General Conference Report:
General Conference was awesome..I really like Hollands talk on the Saturday morning session. All of Uchtdorf's talks were also good, and he is a pretty funny guy :D. I really enjoyed priesthood session as well. It was weird when they asked for all the full time missionaries to stand. At least it was for me, still for some reason getting used to it even though I should be used to it by now. I guess it's just cool whenever people recognize you as one in a meeting like that. Yesterday's sessions were really good. I enjoyed Ballards talk most I think.
If you remember a while ago..last october Elder Arnold (who spoke yesterday) came to our mission, and I got to meet him, his talk was alright, very spiritual. I forgot how funny President Monson is, and Uchtdorf. I am glad that they have a good sense of humor. So yeah I really enjoyed conference, after the priesthood session a member took us out for some ice cream :D A place called Marble Slab...almost exactly like Cold Stone, but Cold Stone is ALOT better.
We had dinner at the Helle's on Friday night (part member family). We are getting to know them very well, which is good. We also found out some of Bro. Helle's hold ups. Iced Tea...doesn't suprise me about that one, but that will be easy to overcome. They are doing well. I hope they watched conference. He had drill SAT/SUNDAY...he is in the Army. So I'm not sure if he had a chance to listen to it, but hopefully he was able to.
Yes I was able to get my camera..and yes it works...I actually like it alot better than my last one, its really nice. THANKS! :D. Overall we have had a good week...Lots to catch up this week. Yeah I heard about the Gator game :/..maybe we can meet them in the SEC Championship game this year and actually win. I hope everyone has had a great week, and thanks for your prayers and support. They are greatly appreciated :D
Love yall.
