Two Weeks in One

NOV. 15th
Hey everyone!

This past week was a great one. All the conferences were good.
Transfer info came, and as expected, E.Hamblin and I will both be staying. So we get to have Thanksgiving and Christmas together.
Speaking of Thanksgiving we are going over to a members home next week. Thank goodness it is an all day P-Day, looking forward to it, can't wait.
I just realized this morning, that this Thursday it will be two years ago exactly that I received my mission call.
Things are going well here. My companion has been sick the past couple of days, woke up on Saturday not feeling well at all, and stayed in bed Saturday and Sunday. I at least got to go with one of the other Spanish elders and went out and worked.
So I was spanglish for a day :D. Was interesting, but had a total of 7 lessons for the day, very very good day.
I went a little crazy yesterday, being by myself when Elder Hamblin was sleeping. I read lots of Ensign magazines, and lots of the BofM, and lots of PMG. But you can only study for so long. :/, so it will be nice to get out today and have some P-Day fun :D.

Elder Grow is awesome. He's a pretty funny guy. He counseled us to find families, and teach them. We actually got to teach a family last Thursday night. It went decent, we were told that they felt intimidated by questions, which we were just trying to get them involved. So its a good thing we know, that we are just going to have to teach them very simply.
But we are excited for whats going on.
Conference, like I said was good, learned lots, got to see Elder Lawrence again!!! It was good to see him again.
We helped Samson with his house that he is renovating all day Friday. Taught him the plan of salvation on Saturday. Went good. Had more good questions. We set a soft date for Dec. 18th, we told him to pray about it, and he is going to.
We will hopefully see him tomorrow night, and teach him lesson 3, and read the BofM with him, because he is having a hard time understanding it. So keep Samson in your prayers for me :D.

Love each of you!

Love,

NOV. 22
WOW! Can't believe its already thanksgiving week, and the weather here is beautiful!
It's been in the 60s and 70s and we hear it's supposed to be all this week :D, so we are excited for that.
This past week was a really good week. We taught 29 lessons! So overall it was a really good week.
Found 6 new people to teach. Samson is still doing well, he wasn't able to make it to church yesterday, but he came for the linger longer afterwards, and after that we taught him a little bit.
Committed him to read and pray about the BofM. We are also going to be going over with him the BofM so he can understand it.
I have resumed reading the NT, and started reading D&C. Exciting stuff in there. So I hope to have all completed by the end of the next 5 months, which is in about two weeks that I hit my 19th month mark!
Ahh! It's weird being the oldest missionary in the area! I guess I need to be the example too.

Other than that nothin really much is going on. Well, we found an awesome family this past week, taught them a first lesson and they were really excited about the gospel, at least learning new things. And then they called us yesterday morning to cancel the appointment we had set up with them for tonight. I asked why they wanted to cancel, and they said they talked to their pastor at their church and said that they feel it's not right for them to go down this path. It seemed like they were really interested in what we were teaching them, it was a really spiritual lesson for them too. But yeah, they dropped us like it's hot or so it's said...
Other than that people are progressing.
Working hard, teaching lots, and also having fun while I'm here.

Love each of you!

Go forward with faith.

Love,

Elder Edgell

Cold and Wet But Doing Well. - November 8,2010

Hey Everyone!!

Hope everyone had a good week last week :D. My week was a pretty good one...good but very very cold and wet. Mostly just Wed-Saturday was cold and wet. Highs were in the mid 40s.

Last week was a better week than the previous. Things are moving slowly but surely here in Columbia. But other than being cold and wet, things are going very well. We found 4 new people to teach last week, and they are VERY receptive to the Gospel.

On Thursday we received a HQ referral from SLC. The guys name is Samson Su. He is Chinese, and has been in the USA for a little under 2 years. He is from Beijing area, and speaks EXCELLENT ENGLISH, he majored in it in school in China before he came over.He is very very receptive to the gospel. And the cool thing is he came to church yesterday!!!!!! And we have a sister in our ward also from china who has only been here for 6 months, he was able to translate the meeting for her, it was cool. I sat next to him and answered questions that he had....He mostly had questions about polygamy, but got it cleared up for him...hopefully :/. But it was awesome to see him walk in for church yesterday. He is already talking like he is a member. Like he says things like...so why do people think "we are weird" or "Why are we called the Mormons.". Stuff like that, so we are very hopeful about him, and excited about him. We have another appointment with him tomorrow @ 100 at the church, and we are going to teach him the plan of salvation.

We were able to teach a lot last week, 3 of them members were present, so things are definitely picking up. 16 total lessons...things are low because of no car, at least that's what I think.

Friday we were able to go to Lewisburg to work there. Since we don't get a chance to go there very often, we were there from about 8 till 2. It was a long cold wet day, but little successes there, so we are only going to go there every other Friday. Good little small town, lots of PM families there, but we need a car or something to get there, and we are still with out a car :/. Hopefully Elder Hamblin will get his license sometime this week.

This week should be a good week. Zone Conference is this Thursday in Nashville. Elder Crow of the Seventy will be there. Excited for that, and it's combined with two other zones, McMinville...my old zone, Nashville and ours..Franklin. I'm excited about going back, because It's the same area that Bellevue is in and I will be able to see some members there hopefully that I knew, and get to see how the area is rebuilding from the flood that happened back in May.

So this week is going to be a good one, looking forward to ZC, and looking forward to being in Nashville again for the day.

Hope all is well with everyone :D. Looking forward to a good week.

Love yall

Another Week Has Past

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone's past week was a great one! Ours wasn't that great, but we turned it around on Saturday. We were at only a whopping total of lessons of 6, and Saturday we tracted ALL DAY and walked all day! We found 5 new people to teach, most of those people are pretty solid. Handed out at least 8 Bof Ms in one day, it was probably one of the best finding days of my mission. It was truly amazing to be able to see the Lord's hand in our work this past week, as we were definitely able to see. Last Tuesday we had to stay in most of the day because of tornado watches/warnings all over the area and all through out TN. But we were safe, we just got REALLY HEAVY rain and wind, and lots of dark spooky clouds, captured some good video of it :D.

Wednesday, was another good DM(District Meeting). I went on exchanges with the Lawrenceburg Elders Wed-Fri. We had a good exchange. On Thursday I was able to go do service at a bakery that a member owned. We bagged food, priced it, and helped make rolls, it was really fun. I love all the home made stuff that you find out here, and all the home bakeries...the family feel. The only place that I can think of is Great Harvest Bread Co. that makes home made bread and stuff similar. That's one thing I am going to miss about out here, is all of those kind of stores.

But yeah Saturday was an amazing day, we met this girl, who's name is Ariana, she grew up in the church but is not a member, so we are excited to see where that goes...But the only bad thing about us finding all of these people is that they are like a few hundred yards outside of our area :/. Our border line is the Duck River...so if you were to look at google maps, find the Duck River, and a street called 7th ave, and that's where we tracted. And you'll see how close it is to our area, they are letting us keep them unless they progress towards baptism, since it is pretty far out for the Spring Hill Elders to go to.

Halloween was a very very easy day. We had to be in by 600, so we were at church most of the day then came in and cleaned/did some planning....

Oh, word of advice...don't kneel on a glass table...bad news. But don't worry I just got cut up a bit on my knee. Could of been ALOT worse then it really was.

Things are moving well here. Clint hasn't been able to make it to church yet :/ but hopefully will this next week, the next couple of weeks is crucial for him to get baptized on the 26th. All of our other investigators are doing well too, but not much progress yet. But it will come. I can't believe it is November already, and two weeks from today I think it will be a year since I had my car accident...Time sure does fly, and your right especially when you are busy. This past week flew by way to fast :/. But taking it all in, while I'm still a missionary, because whether I'm ready for it or not it will be here before I know it.

But other than that things are going very well, looking forward to this week, it should be a good one. We are going to a town called Lewisburg TN this Friday to do some work there, a town that we cover, but rarley get to go there, because of miles, so we are excited we get to go there and work this week...wish us luck :D. Well, I think that's it for this week.

Well have a FANTASTIC WEEK

ITS GREAT TO BE A FLOORIDA GATOR!!!!!!

Elder Edgell :D
